Track it on game day

A scorebook and lineup cards are the simplest way to keep records accurate through a season, and a dugout board keeps the standings visible to the team.

How to use it

From records to standings in four steps

1

Add every team

Enter each team name and its wins and losses. Add a row for every team in the league or division. Ties are optional and are excluded from win percentage.

2

Read the standings

The table sorts by win percentage automatically. The leader shows a dash for games back; everyone else shows how many games behind the leader they sit.

3

Add runs for the deeper view

Fill in runs scored and runs allowed to unlock run differential and a Pythagorean expected win percentage — a better read on whether a record is lucky or earned.

4

Share or bookmark it

Use the share button to copy a link that rebuilds the exact table for anyone. Bookmark it to update the standings as the season goes on.

FAQ

Questions about baseball standings

How is baseball win percentage calculated?

Win percentage is wins divided by total decisions (wins plus losses), shown to three decimals. A team at 18-6 has a win percentage of .750. Ties are excluded from the calculation, which is the standard baseball convention.

How do you calculate games back in the standings?

Games back is the average of the wins the leader is ahead by and the losses the trailing team is ahead by: ((leaderWins − teamWins) + (teamLosses − leaderLosses)) / 2. The first-place team is always zero games back and shows a dash.

What is Pythagorean expected win percentage?

Popularized by Bill James, it estimates the win percentage a team "should" have from its runs scored and runs allowed: RS^1.83 / (RS^1.83 + RA^1.83). Comparing it to the actual record hints at whether a team has been lucky or unlucky in close games.

Does this calculator work for softball or other leagues?

Yes. The math is league-agnostic. It works for baseball, softball, Little League, travel ball, high school, college, rec leagues, and fantasy pools — anywhere you track wins and losses. Runs scored and allowed are optional.

Can I group teams into divisions?

Yes. Add a group or division label to each team and the calculator renders a separate, independently sorted standings table for each group. Leave the group blank to keep everyone in one table.

Is the standings link private?

The full table is encoded into the share link itself — there is no login, no account, and nothing stored on a server. Anyone with the link sees the same standings, and the link never expires.
